Why are we sleeping out?

While we have all faced significant challenges this past year, it seems more important now than ever to keep putting kids first. In an effort to keep everyone safe and healthy, this year’s event will be held remotely this September in your own backyards, apartment floors and living room tents.

While it is more difficult to replicate the same feeling of sleeping out in the elements at Drake Stadium, this year’s event will put a much greater focus on giving you the insight and stories of how we help our participants overcome obstacles.

Throughout the course of the event, we will be sharing exclusive content with registered participants about the services our staff provide to help youth obtain food and housing, employment, education and more on their journey to self sufficiency.

However, Reggie’s Sleepout is not about pretending to be homeless. The purpose of this event is to invite you to join others in solidarity for those in need and to spread awareness and raise funds to aid those like Reggie who struggle right here in Central Iowa.
Want to ask questions? Our staff is available to hop on a video call with any and all teams who register this year to provide insight and answer your questions.

And of course, it’s ok to have some fun with your sleepout! We hope you enjoy every step of the journey this year and encourage everyone to share how you sleepout this fall!
