Boxed-In Design Contest

SPONSORED BY NATIONWIDE INSURANCE

We want you to express what Reggie's Sleepout and/or Homelessness means to you.  Put on your creative  hats and design a shelter that exhibits the following criteria.

      • education/theme regarding homelessness
      • creativity
      • warmth
      • comfort
      • livability

Remember that in addition to promoting awareness on homelessness, your box also needs to be as warm and comfortable as possible for you to spend the night.   Bring a tarp to put under (or over) your box shelter in case of inclement weather.

Design a shelter for Reggie's Sleepout and win a prize. To enter the contest, complete the entry form and submit at registration the night of the event (Look for the Boxed-In Design Contest sign).  Click here to download the Boxed-in Design entry form.  To get back to the Reggie's Sleepout website, click on the back arrow.

All entry forms must be received by 7:00 p.m. in order to be eligible for the contest.  You will receive a number to attach to your shelter. Bring the finished design to the stadium or create your box design at the stadium.

  • Judging will take place starting at 8:45 p.m. - 9:45 p.m. with the winners announced at or around 10:00 p.m. in the Field House.
  • Judging will be a panel format.

Pictures of the winning entries and their "stories" will be posted on the Nationwide Insurance Boxed-In Design Award Board in the Field House following the presentation of awards and certificates.

You are required to construct the shelter out of acceptable materials listed in the table below.  Do not use unacceptable materials (listed in the table below) to build your shelter.  Drake University is partnering with us and we need to respect and ensure proper care of the stadium turf.
